Witness by Caroline Mitchell.
Witness is the first book I’ve read by Caroline Mitchell and it certainly won’t be the last. The best part is, she has quite a selection of books for me to choose from. But I really would like to start the Ruby series next. ♥️
In Witness, Caroline Mitchell brings forth a tale that bounces back and forth between present day and diary entries from 10 years ago. Back in the day, Rebecca meets the ever-charming Solomon. Or so she believes at first.
On the day of their 2nd meeting (and their first date), Rebecca’s mother passes on. During her grief, Solomon becomes her rock. A big rock. An overbearing rock. A rock that is beginning to block her vision. A rock that envelopes her, isolates her, and begins to abuse her. Narcissism at it’s finest.
Until the day that Rebecca’s former coworker is murdered in a jealous rage by Solomon. Rebecca testifies against him and he serves 10 years.
Fast forward 10 years.
But during the present day, Rebecca, now Becky, is happily married to Sean and has a young daughter named Lottie. Becky receives a text, on a phone that materializes in her bedroom. It’s evident that it’s Solomon, as he wants to play a game. A game in which Becky is to witness 10 crimes, one for each year he was imprisoned.
I simply loved Witness by Caroline Mitchell. I listened to the audible version of the ebook, and on a few occasions found myself sitting in my car, in my work parking lot, waiting to hear more before I could drag myself into work. On other occasions, I would spend extra time in my kitchen because that is where my echo dot spoke Caroline Mitchell’s words to me. I couldn’t tear myself away.
I had NO idea where Witness was going, and I couldn’t wait to find out. The twist at the end was quite surprising to me and came out of left field. And I live for book twists!!
Want to know how the game is going to end? Read this 5-star book to find out!
