Even the darkest secrets can’t stay buried forever…
Five figures gather round a shallow grave. They had all taken turns to dig. An adult sized hole would have taken longer. An innocent life had been taken but the pact had been made. Their secrets would be buried, bound in blood …

Years later, a headmistress is found brutally strangled, the first in a spate of gruesome murders which shock the Black Country.

But when human remains are discovered at a former children’s home, disturbing secrets are also unearthed. D.I. Kim Stone fast realises she’s on the hunt for a twisted individual whose killing spree spans decades.

As the body count rises, Kim needs to stop the murderer before they strike again. But to catch the killer, can Kim confront the demons of her own past before it’s too late?

My Review of Silent Scream by Angela Marsons

This is the first book I’ve read by Angela Marsons and I am SO glad that there are 5 more books in this series!  *happy dance*

Although Angela Marsons’ books came out earlier, I read (and LOVED) Patricia Gibney’s Lottie Parker series first – and these books are very similar in style.  So if you’ve read Patricia Gibney and loved her, then run (don’t walk!) to collect Angels Marsons’ Kim Stone book series!

DI Kim Stone is the lead investigator on a case involving some current dead people and old bones found at an orphanage for girls.  This like in the description is what drew me in:  “They had all taken turns to dig. An adult-sized hole would have taken longer…”  C.R.E.E.P.Y.

First, let me start at the end.  I read the start of the ending while I was half asleep last night.  This morning I woke up thinking I’d read it wrong. No.  I didn’t.  Correctly, it was read!  My sleepy little brain was thrown for a loop.  Woah, I was not expecting that.  Everyone loves a twisty ending in a dark book, right?

DI Kim Stone.  Love her to pieces!  Perfectly flawed with an attitude problem and a big heart.  When the investigation came to a close, she had notched up two formal complaints, disregarded direct instructions on three occasions, and ran out of fingers to count how many protocols she failed to follow.  Whoops.

The cover was perfect for this book.  The storm clouds looming warm my heart.  I love nothing better than reading a book during a good storm.  Great cover art!

All in all, I gave Angela Marsons’ Silent Scream 4 wonderful little happy stars.  Watch out books 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6… I’m coming for you!
