Chilled by Kendra Elliot
Brrrrr, chilled indeed. That’s what happens when a search and rescue team ventures into the snowy, icy Cascade Mountains to seek out a downed airplane.
Alex Kinton, a former U.S. Marshal, joins Thomas, Jim, Ryan, and Brynn on a search and rescue for a missing aircraft carrying two pilots, another U.S. Marshal, and serial killer Darren Besand.
The sole survivor? You guessed it. Darren Besand! Jerk.
Alex has weaseled his way into this mission because he has a deeply personal bone to pick with Mr. Besand. But despite his humorous disdain for camping in the snow, the team takes him in as one of their own, and off they go on their hunt.
Chilled is the second book in the Bone Secrets series. While I did enjoy the first book, Hidden, better, Chilled was a great book on its own.
If you are reading this review during the winter months, hear me when I say this: read Chilled during a snow storm. It will set the mood and make this an even more incredible reading experience for you.
This is a book packed with secrets, wilderness survival, a little romance, and a dog. What’s not to love about that combination?
While I loved Brynn, I connected most with Ryan. That may be because I listened to the audiobook. The narrator’s accent and tone for Ryan made me giggle, every time he spoke.
All-in-all, this is a solid 4-star book for me. Chilled was my fourth book by Kendra Elliot, and definitely won’t be my last. Buried is next, bring it on.
