One rainy night in the woods outside of Portland, Dr. Victoria Peres is called to the site of a haunting crime scene. Six beautiful young girls—all in white dresses and arranged in a perfect circle—have been left for dead. Only one girl, fighting for her life at a nearby hospital, has survived the carnage.

Things get stranger still when Victoria and the police discover that the disturbing arrangement of the bodies—as meticulous as it is mysterious—is straight from the pages of a decades-old cold case. Victoria is called on to do what she does best, read the bones of the dead for clues…while dealing with the surprise return of her first love, medical examiner Seth Rutledge.

Only this time she must figure out how the two cases, fifty years apart, are connected.

Alone by Kendra Elliot is the 4th book in the Bone Secrets Series.

Alone is yet another twisty tale created by the wonderful writer, Kendra Elliot.

Dark, rainy night. Six Beautiful Girls. In beautiful white dresses. Arranged in a perfect circle, like a beautiful daisy. All left for dead. But one girl. She is left fighting for her life. What an eerie image the layout of these girls conjured.

Welcome Back.

Welcome back to Drs. Victoria Peres and Lacy Campbell. Remember them? Book one? Michael Brody makes a few cameo appearances as well.  Sweet Michael… Anyway!

So, what does a forensic anthropologist like Dr. Peres have to do with fresh bodies? Not much – but she sure comes in handy when they investigate a shockingly similar scene from decades earlier. A scene where three of the women remain unidentified.

And, it wouldn’t be a Kendra Elliot mystery if there wasn’t any romance involved. Victoria’s first love, Seth Rutledge, shows up on her crime scene. Well, you get the idea on where that is going!

As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Bone Secrets books are a great series. Kendra Elliot always includes elements of romance and gives a creepy, sinister feel to her books without the guts and ick factor.

I breezed through the Bone Secrets books rather quickly, as I’ve enjoyed them all and had trouble pressing the pause button. (audible).

I have enjoyed the introduction of new characters and the reacquaintance of old characters. Victoria Peres came across as cold and withdrawn in the previous books. However, in Alone, we learn more about her history and personality. I’ve grown to like her a lot.

Five big stars for Alone.

Now, I haven’t yet read the synopsis for the 5th book, Known, but I plan to go in blind. I can’t wait to see who pops up and what the characters are up against this time.
