The Lost Child – Patricia Gibney
Book Reviews / 29 September 2017

Patricia Gibney’s The Lost Child is more shocking than a bug in a zapper! WOW! I spent a lot of time bouncing in my seat, waiting for this book to come about for us to review. It was worth the impatient wait!

DI Parker and DS Boyd attend to a murder on the outskirts of Ragmullin. It’s a senior woman, at her daughter’s house. And the daughter is missing.

From that point on, The Lost Child takes off. There are flashbacks of a girl in a mental facility. A drunk prostitute who keeps having babies. A drug ring. And twisty relationships that weave in and out of each other. It’s a crazy ride.

Welcome back to Chris from Buried, #3. Chris is at his remote cabin in the Cascade Mountains during a brutal snowstorm. During his stay, he discovers Gianna and her 16-year-old daughter, Violet, huddled in an SUV. Having escaped from the harrowing ordeal of their vacation rental cabin burning down, Violet is found nursing her mother, who was violently ill all night.

As we know from Buried, Chris knows what burnt flesh smells like. And there was a strong odor of burnt flesh in that cabin. Low and behold, a charred body was found.

The Girls in the Water – Victoria Jenkins
Book Reviews / 22 September 2017

The Girls in the Water is a strong debut by Victoria Jenkins.

Holy Moley Guacamole.  Women detectives in a twisty book go straight to my heart faster than food in my belly.

A crime novel through and through, Victoria Jenkins introduces us to detectives Alex King and Chloe Lane. They are investigating the murders of two women, found in the water (SHOCKER!) in a park. And soon enough, Chloe realizes she may be in danger as well.

Alone – Kendra Elliot
Book Reviews / 21 September 2017

Alone by Kendra Elliot is the 4th book in the Bone Secrets Series.

Alone is yet another twisty tale created by the wonderful writer, Kendra Elliot.

Dark, rainy night. Six Beautiful Girls. In beautiful white dresses. Arranged in a perfect circle, like a beautiful daisy. All left for dead. But one girl. She is left fighting for her life. What an eerie image the layout of these girls conjured.

Buried – Kendra Elliot

The Bone Secrets series, if you haven’t read any of them, are a series of books that don’t follow the same main characters book to book. Bit characters from the first book are main characters in the second, and so on. Book by book, we learn more about the characters, as each has their own story!

So, to that end, Michael Brody was a side character in Hidden, Book 1. As a jealous brat, he was endearing. You could feel the love he had for Lacey Campbell, and the hurt when he saw her with Jack Harper. When he showed up in Buried, as a primary character, I cheered him on as he found love.

The Doll House – Phoebe Morgan
Book Reviews / 8 September 2017

Yes, yes, yes, The Doll House by Phoebe Morgan is another new to me 5-star author. 2017 has been a great year for discovering new 5-star authors, and it makes me grin ear to ear.

The Doll House is a dark and creepy tale with an astonishing ending to which I hope there is a sequel. (hint, hint).

Phoebe Morgan’s story centers around two adult sisters, Corrine and Ashley.
